So since I last posted my car situation has taken a bit of a turn. I totaled the LS430 after someone ran a red light and hit me, luckily with no injuries for either party.

The 430 was a fantastic car, but I figured if I was going to have a winter car I might as well have a truck. Today I went and finally pulled the trigger on this 2006 LX470 in pretty pristine shape. So far I couldn’t be happier with the truck!

It was probably the best car I’ve ever owned. The S600 is buckets faster, but the LS is better in pretty much every other metric

its amazing that totalled the 430, though I can’t say im surprised with the costs of these parts. Great looking LX though. Any plans with it or just cruisin tall?

Speaking of injuries, the other party claimed injury in my accident despite my car only impacting the trailer while it moved past me at 20 mph. How fucked up is that?

I mean, I got hit at 5mph once when I was stopped at a light (someone 3 cars back tried to go when it wasn’t green) and I absentmindedly mentioned a headache when their insurance called. I wasn’t trying to claim injury but they sent me $200 for it.

Honestly. It was the day after, they asked me a question and I asked them to repeat it because “I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention, I have a bit of a headache” BOOM check in the mail. I’d probably just forgotten my coffee.

I’m just leaving it stock for now, when the hydraulics inevitably go out I’ll probably put an old man emu lift on it, but I’m not even sure if I’ll do that. From what I hear it’s a pretty resilient system overall. I might do a running board delete but I doubt I’ll even do that. I’m definitely gonna get a proper adapter for the stereo though, I need an aux input.

Yeah, it really was something. I might buy another 430 just for the lolz next summer, but I’m not sure yet. I think if I get another one it’ll be an ‘06 U ltra L uxury because why not. If the air bags go out I’ll just put in the suspension from an LS430 sport and have the perfect LS.

So when you got nailed in the wheel, did it actually do frame damage to the front sub-frame and ACTUALLY total the Lexus, or was it one of those insurance "totals"?

I’m pretty sure it was an actual total. It’s a salvage title now, but from what the guy said the impact pretty much shattered that entire corner of the car, and all those parts get expensive quick. It technically could have been rebuilt, but I think the price to rebuild it was like $500 less than just buying in ‘06 ultra luxury.
